What can I expect during the initial 3-months?

You should receive your plan 3 days after we receive your medical history questionnaire and laboratory results. We typically recommend that you stop all current medications and supplements when starting the program.

If you are on multiple medications, the first few days may be difficult for you, however we strongly encourage you to be patient - your body will be going through changes and you must stay committed in order for your body to adjust to your plan. You will have direct contact our advisors throughout the program.

After the initial few days, you will receive a follow-up questionnaire focused on specific items unique to your medical history so that we can get a good understanding on the effects of your plan. At this time, we may recommend a few plan modifications and this follow-up process will continue at 1 month and 3 months after the start of your plan.

At the 3-month anniversary of your plan, we recommend that you re-perform your laboratory tests and you will have the option to enroll in our Follow-Up Program for ongoing consultative support to maintain your optimal plan.

What happens after the initial 3 months?

After the initial 3 months, we offer a Follow-Up Program. This additional service provides you with the ongoing support for any necessary plan modifications, follow-up evaluations, and other support that you may require in maintaining your optimal plan.

top

What if I decide not to participate in the Follow-Up Package and want further
consultation?

We require that you start the entire process over and re-pay the initial consultation fee.

top

How do I complete my medical history questionnaire?

We have developed a proprietary online system to facilitate the process for completing your medical history. Upon enrollment in the Migraine Program, you will receive an E-mail with an encrypted link to your medical history questionnaire. You save as you go and can take as much time as you need. An internet connection and Internet Explorer 6.0 are required to access the questionnaire.

How do I get my blood tests done?

Upon enrollment in the Migraine Program, we will send you and your doctor a fax/E-mail with the laboratory testing instructions. We recommend using Lab Corp for this process.

The bloods should be drawn in the morning and each patient should fast 12 hours prior to the having the blood drawn. If you were unable to fast, please provide us with as much information possible regarding what and how much you ate in the 12 hours prior to your laboratory testing.

For women: The 20th day of your menstrual cycle is recommended. If you have an irregular cycle, any day during your cycle is satisfactory, however, please do not perform the laboratory tests during menstruation.

Laboratory results typically take 10-14 days and are the rate limiting step of receiving your plan, so please start this process immediately upon enrollment in the Migraine Program.

Do I stop taking my medications in preparation of the laboratory tests?

We typically recommend that you stop your medications, however you will be able to review this process with your physician and our advisors.

top

How can I order my supplements?

All supplements can be purchased through a patient coordinator and delivered to your home.

top

How much will all of my supplements and hormones cost me for this
program?

The average cost is $200-300, however this is difficult to approximate because each plan is personalized and ranges between 4 and 20 items. However, regardless of the number of items, the ongoing supplement costs typically drop because some plan items may be discontinued and/or the previous purchases will include several month supply for certain items.

Where can I get my prescriptions filled?

You must identify a compounding pharmacy for your bio-identical hormones (traditional pharmacies do not supply these items). If you or your physician does not use a compounding pharmacy, we recommend contacting Brister Brothers at (662) 226-1642 or www.bristerbrothers.com. We have been working with Brister Brothers several years and know that they provide high quality products and provide great customer service. They can also deliver your bio-identical hormones to your home upon receipt of the prescription from your physician.

top

Can you send me the hormones and supplements on my plan to my/any country?

This is possible in most cases, however, you should check with the customs procedures of the respective country. Our patient coordinators will assist you in this process.

top

Are physicians involved in the Migraine Program?

Absolutely. The Migraine Program was designed to be followed under doctor supervision. The physicians are responsible for ordering laboratory tests, prescribing the bio-identical hormones, and working with us in monitoring your progress on the Migraine Program. Our advisors are available to both you and your physicians should any questions arise.

What if I don't have a doctor to supervise the Migraine Program?

If you live near New York City or Cleveland, Ohio (or are willing to travel), we highly recommend visiting either Dr. Rozakis or Dr. Hatsis to supervise your program. They have been working close with our experts for several years and provide rapid response for the updates typically required during the process.

If not, then please contact our patient coordinators and they will assist you in the process of either working with your physician and/or identifying a participating physician in your area. Our overall experience with "new" physicians has been positive, however, when introducing the program, please emphasize the importance for rapid receipt of plan modifications.

There could be an extra fee work with the physicians other than Dr. Rozakis and Dr. Hatsis, however, it may be covered by your insurance (depends on the physician).

How do I "set up" my doctor?

In our experience, most physicians are very open to helping their patients try new methods to alleviate their migraine conditions. We will provide you with the following information to introduce the Migraine Program to your physician: an example plan, laboratory testing instructions, and medical references outlining examples and results from the Program.

It is also highly recommended that you form a relationship with a member of your doctor's staff and let them know when they can expect plan updates so you can receive them as soon as possible.

top

Do I need a doctor to supervise this program if I live overseas?

We strongly recommend that you are under doctor supervision for the Migraine Program; however, we are able to recommend a plan based on your lab tests and medical history questionnaire.

top

How long has the Migraine Program been around and how did it come
about?

The Migraine Program was formed in November 2006 when Dr. Dzugan left the Life Extension Foundation to form his own company focused on consulting with patients and physicians for the management of migraine. To learn more about this history of the Migraine Program, click here.

top

Why can't I see Dr Dzugan personally for my migraines?

The Migraine Program must be delivered under the supervision of a licensed physician and Dr. Dzugan is not licensed in the United States.

top

What if I have been told that certain supplements are not safe or my doctor doesn't think I should take them?

It is very important that you follow our instructions as provided. Patients who do not follow the plan exactly often do not see the desired results. We understand that you may believe in some of the current treatments, but if you want our plan to be effective, you MUST follow the instructions exactly.

If you or your doctor has questions regarding the safety of certain plan items, please contact your advisor and they will work with you in answering your questions.

top

Am I a candidate for your program?

After you fill out the questionnaire, we will establish your potential as a candidate for the Migraine Program. However, our program is effective for almost everyone, unless your migraines developed after surgery or traumatic events. If you enrolled and are not a candidate, we will refund your money and try to recommend the best treatment for you.

top

Is this "The Migraine Cure" (Book)?

Not exactly. The Migraine Program utilizes the principles described in Dr. Dzugan's book, however The Migraine Cure describes Dr. Dzugan's personal experiences with in working with migraine patients.

top

Is there anything else I should be aware of?

We do ask that all patients and doctors who are working or have worked with the Migraine Program provide feedback in the form of a questionnaire that will help us improve our process to provide an optimal program for future patients and meeting the needs of doctors with whom we work.
